The Who Girl

I have not quite figured out what to do with this blog.  It's mostly for the few family/friends who don't have Facebook, but mostly for a keepsake....even though I kind of feel like I'm talking to myself and writing in my journal at the same time....la, la, la.

So, the update on "what's happening".... we are all either working or going to school and trying to figure out where we all fit in this big ole world.  I try to be the family psychologist/philosopher/short-order cook, but I am not sure how much is getting through on any of that.  The family nights have not changed from when the kids were little.  We are all lucky to be all together for a little while longer and, just when I thought we could all be serious for ten minutes....let's just say trying to revive family night went over like it always did and/or the last time I tried to get everyone to sing Christmas carols. Yeah.

Let's just say everyone likes to make fun of me.  In case anyone is really reading this, just so you know, I am loving-known as the "who girl".  I blame it on my kitchen.  I'm in my kitchen a lot, but it is one of those old-types that is cut off from everyone, unlike those nice, new ones that are open to the living room where everyone hangs out.  So, I'm in the kitchen trying to burn something because there are usually a couple people in the other room saying something really interesting to me.  It is sooo distracting.  It's hard to ignore....I can hardly stand it.  It's like dangling a carrot in front of a horse.  It's like holding a bone in front of a dog and telling him to wait.  It's like telling a monkey not to grab that shiny piece of candy.  Invariably, someone will say just enough for me to hear....just enough to spike my interest and ugh!  I can't stand it anymore!

Before you know it, I'm coming around the corner, trying to be nonchalant.  "Who?"

"Who?" they tease.  "You are just the 'who girl'".   They think they are so clever baiting me with juicy tidbits.

Haha, okay. Laugh.  I fell for it yet again.  Keep me in the dark.  I'm am just the ranch hand.  Nobody tells me nothing.  Hope you like your dinner (no, I would NEVER say that).

So, where was I going with this?

Anyway, we are all just hanging out, shooting the breeze and eating together, pretty much right now...in between everyone's schedules.  I guess I will have to just live with no more trips to story time and the zoo....kind of outgrew all of that.  Perhaps we can try a little harder and be creative.

Speaking of creative.  I fixed the plumbing under the sink in the kitchen.  I was so proud of me!  I wanted to do it.  The neat thing about an older home is that, it is pretty broken in, so I can experiment and no one really cares.  So, I think I will make over our kitchen.  Maybe I'll tear down a wall and open it up so that I will be the "who girl" no more.  Just maybe.

Luke's Weight Lifting Days - KDH article

Luke, at age 17 (Junior year), was starting out when this article was made.  He quickly went on to, not only win a state record in bench press, but also set a national record! He was only 4lbs and one bench press attempt away from breaking a world record! His senior year, he thought he would give wrestling a try and, in just a few short months, became first in the district.  He perfected one move:  the Cow Catcher.  Way to go Luke!

Luke now....HE IS STRONG!
